This session introduces to the topic from a DBA perspective, showing how SSL certificates work, available tools and examples of configuring and troubleshooting their usage from the Oracle database. We will review traditional and Cloud deployments, exploring also the implementation of TLS 1.2 (SHA2 algorithm) and common errors found from real-life usage.

Nelson Calero is a Computer Engineer and Oracle ACE Director based out of Montevideo, Uruguay. He has been involved with Oracle technology since 1996, specializing in architecture, administration, and performance for VLDBs and HA environments. After a few years providing consulting in both the private and public sector throughout Latin America, he joined Pythian in 2014, working now as an Oracle Projects Engineer. In addition to being the Founder and President of the Uruguayan Oracle User Group (UYOUG), Nelson is helping to develop the Latin America Oracle users community (LAOUC) from the boards of directors, is frequently speaking at industry events, and Instructor at Oracle University.
